La vie me parait alors si simple...

You're my immortality...

All we have is how you remember me. I want that memory to be
strong and beautiful don't you see?.. if I know I am remembered that way
I can face anything, anything... you're my immortality.

There's no such thing as fate.

If Tom had learned anything... it was that
you can't ascribe great cosmic significance to a simple earthly event.
Coincidence. That's all anything ever is.
Nothing more than coincidence. It took a long time but Tom had finally learned.
There are no miracles.
There's no such thing as fate. Nothing is meant to be.
He knew. He was sure of it now. Tom was..pretty sure.

A true soul mate...

People think a soul mate is your perfect fit, and that's what everyone wants. But a true soul mate is a mirror, the person who shows you everything that is holding you back, the person who brings you to your own attention so you can change your life.

A true soul mate is probably the most important person you'll ever meet, because they tear down your walls and smack you awake. But to live with a soul mate forever? Nah. Too painful. Soul mates, they come into your life just to reveal another layer of yourself to you, and then leave.

A soul mates purpose is to shake you up, tear apart your ego a little bit, show you your obstacles and addictions, break your heart open so new light can get in, make you so desperate and out of control that you have to transform your life, then introduce you to your spiritual master...

...when we are both cats

I've seen you, man!

-Hi.
-I'm sorry?
- I just said hi.
- Hi. Hello. Hi.
-Okay if I sit closer?
-How far are you going?
-Uh, Rockville Center.
-Get out! Me too!
-Really?
-What are the odds? Do I know you? Do you ever shop at Barnes & Noble?
-Sure. Sure.
-That's it!
-Yeah?
-I've seen you, man!
-Book slave there for, like, five years now.
-Ah. I would have thought I would've remembered you.
Jesus! Is it five years?
-It might be the hair.
-What might?
-It changes a lot...The color. That's why you might not recognize me.It's called Blue Ruin, the color.
-Right. Yeah.
-Snappy name, huh?
-I like it.
-Anyway, this company makes a whole line of colors with equally snappy names. Red... Red Menace, Yellow Fever, Green Revolution. That'd be a job, coming up with those names.
-You think there could possibly be a job like that? I mean, how many hair colors could there be? Fifty, maybe.
-Someone's got that job.Agent Orange! I came up with that one. I apply my personality in a paste.
-Oh, I doubt that very much.
-Well, you don't know me, so...you don't know, do you?
-Sorry. I was just...I'm trying to be nice.
-Yeah. I got it. My name's Clementine, by the way.
-I'm Joel.
-Hi, Joel. Hey no jokes about my name. Oh, no, you wouldn't do that. You're trying to be nice
-I don't know any jokes about your name.
-Huckleberry Hound.
-I don't know what that means.
-Huckleberry Hound? What are you, nuts?
-It's been suggested.
-Oh, my darlin', oh, my darlin' Oh, my darlin' Clementine
You were lost and gone forever dreadful sorry Clementine
-No?
-I'm sorry. Just... It's a pretty name, though. It really is nice.
It's, uh...It means "merciful."Right? Clemency?
-Although it hardly fits.I'm a vindictive little bitch, truth be told.
-Gee, l-I wouldn't think that about you.
-Why wouldn't you think that about me?
-I don't know.I just...I don't know. I just, uh...You seem nice, so...
-Oh, now I'm nice? Oh, God. Don't you know any other adjectives? I don't need "nice." I don't need myself to be it, and I don't need anybody else to be it at me.
-Okay.
-Joel?, It's Joel, right?
-Yes.
-I'm sorry I yelled at you. I'm a little out of sorts today.
My embarrassing admission is, I really like that you're nice right now. I mean, I can't tell from one moment to the next what I'm gonna like, but right now...I'm glad you are.

It's love's illusions I recall. I really don't know love, at all.

You're the girl of my dreams...

Lucy:
I don't know who you are, Henry...
but I dream about you almost every night. Why?

Henry:
What would you say if I told you that notebook you read every
day used to have a lot of stuff about me in it?

Lucy:
I would say that that makes a lot of sense.

Henry:
You erased me from your memories
because you thought you were
holding me back from having a full and happy life.
But you made a mistake.
Being with you is the only way
I could have a full and happy life.
You're the girl of my dreams... and apparently,
I'm the man of yours.

Love actually is all around

Whenever I get gloomy with the state of the world, I think about the arrivals gate at Heathrow Airport. General opinion's starting to make out that we live in a world of hatred and greed, but I don't see that. It seems to me that love is everywhere. Often, it's not particularly dignified or newsworthy, but it's always there - fathers and sons, mothers and daughters, husbands and wives, boyfriends, girlfriends, old friends. When the planes hit the Twin Towers, as far as I know, none of the phone calls from the people on board were messages of hate or revenge - they were all messages of love. If you look for it, I've got a sneaking suspicion... love actually is all around.

PEG
Hello. Hello. Why are you hiding back there? You don't have to hide from me. I'm Peg Boggs. I'm your local Avon representative and I'm as harmless as cherry pie.
(Peg sees Edward's scissorhands.)
Oh my! I can see that I've disturbed you. How stupid of me! I'll just be going now.
EDWARD
Don't go.
PEG
Oh my! What happened to you?
EDWARD
I'm not finished.
PEG
Uh, put those down. Don't come any closer. Just please... Those are your hands? Those are your hands. What happened to you? Where are your parents? Hum... Your mother? Your father?
EDWARD
He didn't wake up.
PEG
Are you alone? Do you live up here all by yourself? What happened to your face? Hum, you know, I won't hurt you. But at the very least let me give you a good astringent and this will help to prevent infection. What's your name?
EDWARD
Edward.
PEG
Edward? I think you should just come home with me.

Marie Antoinette ♥

I have seen all, I have heard all, I have forgotten all.

Courage! I have shown it for years; think you I shall lose it at the moment when my sufferings are to end?

I was a queen, and you took away my crown; a wife, and you killed my husband; a mother, and you deprived me of my children. My blood alone remains: take it, but do not make me suffer long.

Let them eat cake.

No one understands my ills, nor the terror that fills my breast, who does not know the heart of a mother.

Fools rush in ♥

Fools rush in
Where angels fear to tread
And so I come to you my love
My heart above my head

Though I see
The danger there
If there's a chance for me
Then I don't care

Fools rush in
Where wise men never go
But wise men never fall in love
So how are they to know?

When we met
I felt my life begin
So open up your heart and let
This fool rush in

Oh, open up your heart and let
This fool rush in

It de Stephen King

I'll be seeing you

My Dearest Allie. I couldn't sleep last night because I know that it's over between us. I'm not bitter anymore, because I know that what we had was real. And if in some distant place in the future we see each other in our new lives, I'll smile at you with joy and remember how we spent the summer beneath the trees, learning from each other and growing in love. The best love is the kind that awakens the soul and makes us reach for more, that plants a fire in our hearts and brings peace to our minds, and that's what you've given me. That's what I hope to give to you forever. I love you. I'll be seeing you. Noah

Clementine Kruczynski

Clementine is an unusual name, and almost in a bid to appear worthy of such a rare moniker, she engineers a persona to match. She dies her hair crazy colours and wears some truly awful clothes, but it’s all superficial.

When she first meets Joel (Jim Carrey) the man she will fall in love with, she seeks to inform him of her kookiness in a typically self-deprecating way, as though she can’t help being so goddamned crazy: “Look, I'm sorry if I came off a little nutso, I'm not really.” Joel sees through this and let’s her know it, but though she complains that “guys think I’m a concept”, it is actually a myth that she looks to maintain. She wants to be considered eccentric and weird, as it as her opportunity to be special.

Despite claims to the contrary, she does care what the world thinks of her and it is this huge internal contradiction that ironically, helps make Clementine so appealing. She quizzes Joel if she is ugly – a silly question considering he is her boyfriend by this stage, and yet she desperately needs to hear his answer. She can act tough, shouting the house down and swearing like a trooper, but she is also fragile and riddled with insecurities. These opposites are often packaged together, but unusually, Clementine never looks to suppress them. She is open about her personal issues and happily tells Joel that “I'm an open book. I tell you everything, every damn, embarrassing thing.

It is her faults and her honest acceptance of these that make us like her all the more. She is ridiculously fickle, has the attention span of a small child and is high-maintenance, and yet these are all traits that she admits to and never looks to change. The hair and wacky clothes might be one way she tries to express her personality, but her true self always shines through, never to be denied. She is self-aware and confident in her limitations, but this inner knowledge of her lesser qualities never makes her withdrawn, apologetic or sad. Instead, she opts to be the life and soul of every party.

I apply my personality in a paste” she cheerily declares, and though the film focuses more on the story of Joel, it is Clementine who makes the biggest impression. Kate Winslet’s performance as Clementine was voted one of the greatest of all time by Premiere magazine, and it would be churlish to argue. Clementine is noisy and cheery, smiling her way through the film as someone you feel you could know. She is approachable and chatty, so friendly in fact that it is due to her randomly introducing herself to Joel on a train, that their romance begins. When their relationship turns sour, Joel complains that “constantly talking isn't necessarily communicating”, but it is her extroverted exuberance that colours the entire film.

But talk of contradictions, honesty and pushiness suggest a down-to-earth character very much mired in reality. This would be wrong. Clementine is whimsical, romantic and impulsive (Joel: “That's what I love about you”), with a luminous childlike wonder, most evident when the circus unexpectedly comes to town. When she desperately tries to recreate the magic she once felt with Joel, with new man Patrick, she wants to go dancing one moment and then visit the frozen Charles the next.

Clementine injects fun into Joel’s humdrum existence and despite denouncing herself as “just a f**ked-up girl who's lookin' for my own piece of mind”, we come to love her – faults and all.

To love more than one person in a lifetime

I never thought it was possible to love more than one person in a lifetime. I used to think that people were lying, or crazy. I used to be very closed minded.

The Breakfast Club

Dear Mr. Vernon, we accept the fact that we had to sacrifice a whole Saturday in detention for whatever it was we did wrong. What we did was wrong. But we think you're crazy to make an essay telling you who we think we are. You see us as you want to see us... In the simplest terms, in the most convenient definitions. But what we found out is that each one of us is a brain...
...and an athlete...
...and a basket case...
...a princess...
...and a criminal...
Does that answer your question?... Sincerely yours, the Breakfast Club.

Burlesque Trailer

Are some things meant to be?

Henry: Do you really think there is only one perfect mate?
Leonardo da Vinci: As a matter of fact, I do.

Henry: Well then how can you be certain to find them?
And if you do find them, are they really the one for you or do you only think they are?
And what happens if the person you're supposed to be with never appears or, or she does,
but you're too distracted to notice?

Leonardo da Vinci: You learn to pay attention.

Henry: Then let's say God puts two people on Earth and they are lucky enough to find one another. But one of them gets hit by lightning. Well then what? Is that it? Or, perchance, you meet someone new and marry all over again. Is that the lady you're supposed to be with or was it the first? And if so, when the two of them were walking side by side were they both the one for you and you just happened to meet the first one first or, was the second one supposed to be first? And is everything just chance or are some things meant to be?

Don't you wish you could tell her that?

I know you miss her, I mean, you told me you did. But maybe it's not just the cooking or the cleaning that you miss. Maybe it's something else. Maybe you can't even describe it. Maybe you only know it when it's gone. Maybe it's like there's a whole piece of you that's missing, too. Look at her, Dad. Doesn't she look pretty like that? Doesn't she look just as beautiful as the first time you met her? Do you really want her back the way she was? Doesn't she look wonderful? Now, don't you wish you could tell her that?

Nothing Is As Simple As Black And White

Nobody's happy in a poodle skirt and a sweater set.

I did the slut thing, David. It got kinda old.

Jennifer: And I still don't see why we're doing this!
David: Because we're supposed to be in school.
Jennifer: We're supposed to be at home, David. We're supposed to be in color!
Well, I better get going. Your show's almost on.

Jennifer: Hey, can I ask you a question?
David: Sure.
Jennifer: How come I'm still in black and white?
David: What?
Jennifer: I've had, like, ten times as much sex as the rest of these girls, and I still look like this. I mean, they spend, like, an hour in the back seat of some car and all of a sudden they're in Technicolor?
David: I don't know. Maybe it's not just the sex.

David's Mom: When your father was here, I used to think, "This was it. This is the way it was always going to be. I had the right house. I had the right car. I had the right life."
David: There is no right house. There is no right car.

I knew you'd pay a price for this. I knew you couldn't be so hopelessly geek-ridden for so long without suffering some really tragic consequences.

Well, it looks like we're going to have another sunny day - high 72, low 72, and not a cloud in the sky.

Up until now everything around here has been, well, pleasant. Recently certain things have become unpleasant. Now, it seems to me that the first thing we have to do is to separate out the things that are pleasant from the things that are unpleasant.

I was thinking of wearing that red thing... it's not slutty!... it's fun.

Jennifer: You listen to me for just a minute! I don't know what you've done to us, but you better fix it!
David: Shhh!
Jennifer: Fast! I had a date with Mark Davis and I even bought new underwear!

You should know the answer to that! The end of Main Street is just the beginning again.

You can't do this, Jennifer! He doesn't exist! You can't do this to someone who doesn't exist!

It's just... where am I going to see colors like that?

I think you should try not to think about that anymore.

This is the only book I've ever read in my whole life, and you're not going to put it on that fire!
